Calming the Mind
Joy of Living 1
Discover how meditation can transform all experiences—even difficult emotions and painful thoughts—into sources of joy. This comprehensive introduction to meditation goes beyond techniques to offer a profound shift in how you experience life.
"If we transform our mind, everything we experience is transformed." – Mingyur Rinpoche
The real power of meditation isn't in the method—it's in shifting our perspective. Through awareness, we learn to transform our entire experience of life. This program moves beyond sitting postures and relaxation techniques to explore how sensations, thoughts, emotions, and awareness itself can become supports for meditation.

Meet the Guide
George Hughes's spiritual path began in his teenage years, where an early fascination with meditation and wisdom traditions blossomed into a lifelong calling. While exploring various spiritual approaches, he found his spiritual home in the teachings of Mingyur Rinpoche, whose emphasis on joy, simplicity, and lightness of being deeply resonated with George's own perspective.
As a trusted teacher of Rinpoche's Joy of Living and Path of Liberation programs, George has guided students across continents, from the United States to Brazil and Nepal. His holistic approach to well-being also encompasses yoga instruction and healing practices.
Today, he brings his extensive experience to dual roles as Co-Director and Contemplative Faculty at the Tergar Institute, while serving as a Senior Facilitator and mentor for Tergar International. Throughout his journey, George continues to weave meditation and dharmic principles into every aspect of his life, embodying the teachings he shares with others.
